Reviews By You: Live Oak Public Library Southwest Chatham Branch

Live Oak Public Library-Southwest Chatham Branch (Behind the Savannah Mall)
By: Crystal Sanders

If you are looking for a wonderful place to take the kids this summer, swing on over to the library.  My girls and I have been going to story time here for probably a year and they enjoy it so much!  The children's librarian Ms. Alyssa is GREAT!  She reads 4-5 books, sings songs, and gets the kids involved with the songs and stories. My girls are always so excited to see her and sing all the songs!

They have different story times for different ages.
Acorns Storytime: Ages 0-2, Tue @ 10:30 a.m. 3-4 books with a rhyming prose and songs to get parents and babies involved
Tree Tots Storytime: Ages 0-4, Wed @ 10:30 a.m. 3-4 books with songs to get kids more involved, sitting, standing, counting, etc.
Preschool Storytime: Ages 3-5, Thu @ 10:30 a.m.  5-6 books with a circle time approach.  Children sit on the rug usually without parents (we get to sit on the stairs) and books are more of a story format.  Usually a color, number or letter of the day.  Gets the kids ready for the preschool setting.

All the Live Oak Public Libraries are participating in the Dig Into Reading Summer Program June 1-August 17, 2013.  All children ages 0-18yrs can participate.  Reading logs can be found on line at www.liveoakpl.org or they can be picked up at your local branch.  For each 10 hrs your reads or is read to (40 hrs max) they are entered to win an ATLANTA GETAWAY GRAND PRIZE.  Drawing to be held AUG. 23 This year’s grand prize is an Atlanta Getaway Package for a family of four that includes a three night stay at the Hyatt Downtown Atlanta (near Centennial Park), admission to Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola, Zoo Atlanta, Fernbank Museum, “Imagine It!” The Children’s Museum of Atlanta, the Center for Puppetry Arts, and more! A total of THREE grand prizes will be given away. The grand prize drawing will be held at the Bull Street Library on Aug. 23. Entry forms must be submitted by Aug. 17 to qualify.
All story times are free and open to the public, check your local branch for times.  Hope to see new faces at story time!!
